What high Triglycerides can mean

  • Diet high in added sugar, refined carbohydrates, or alcohol
  • Obesity, physical inactivity, or metabolic syndrome
  • Poorly controlled diabetes
  • Hypothyroidism, kidney disease, or certain medications (e.g. steroids, some diuretics, estrogen)
  • Genetics, including inherited disorders of triglyceride metabolism
